Por lo general las personas son conscientes de que la piel es
un órgano que forma parte del cuerpo, sin embargo no advierten su importancia en
el funcionamiento de este. Este órgano que poco conocemos, se caracteriza por
su capacidad para renovarse y por ser la parte más pesada de nuestro cuerpo! Pesa
aproximadamente, entre 3 a 4 kg con una extensión de alrededor de 1,5 a 2
metros cuadrados.
Una de sus funciones más importantes es su capacidad para proteger el cuerpo transmitiendo señales
que identifican enfermedad, cuando otros órganos no se encuentran funcionando
bien. Así mismo protege el cuerpo de
factores externos como los microbianos o de otros elementos de carácter
mecánico y químico a través de mecanismos celulares que aportan
impermeabilidad, resistencia y flexibilidad para resistir a agresiones externas
del entorno.
Otra de sus funciones es su capacidad de transmisión, ya que permite conectar el cuerpo con el mundo
exterior, permitiéndonos tener distintas sensaciones como el frío, el calor, la
presión, dolor y así poder informar el cuerpo por medio de nuestros sentidos.
Si reflexionamos en este punto podemos evaluar su importancia, considerando que
nos permite entender temas importantes como el clima, el umbral de dolor del
cuerpo y otros factores que garantizan nuestra supervivencia.
Por último está el intercambio,
donde se regula temperatura y la síntesis vitamina D que influye en el
crecimiento de nuestros huesos.
Viendo la importancia de cada una de sus funciones, se hace indispensable cuidarla y tener presente hábitos sencillos como la hidratación de nuestra piel y la buena alimentación para mantenerla saludable.

functions. This organ that is little known, is characterized because of its renewal
